If "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh has a hidden superpower, it's getting his actors to fall in love with him.
In an exclusive clip from the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of the summer blockbuster, Chris Hemsworth and his costars fall all over one another to fete the guy for his vision, his commitment and his relentless commitment to turn what could have been a "Masters of the Universe"-style cheesefest into a Shakespeare-infused superhero epic.
Now that Branagh is officially exiting the franchise, hopping a rainbow bridge straight back to projects across the pond and leaving Mighty Thor himself mighty "disappointed," the new clip stands as something of a love letter from the cast to the departed director. To wit:
Anthony Hopkins: "It's been terrific working with Ken Branagh. He was the main attraction for this….He's got that rare ingredient of not only being a great actor but a great director."
Natalie Portman: "He's very, very emotionally engaged with us. He has such an amazing way of attacking the text from so many different angles that you wouldn't necessarily think of yourself."
Chris Hemsworth: "He pushed you in every sort of angle the character can go. Anytime it was feeling like the norm, it would be like, 'No, no, let's do something else.' "
The clip, though, doesn't just deliver a Hallmark card to Branagh. It also gives behind-the-scenes looks at Asgard's throne room and Odin's vault, Hopkins and Tom Hiddleston going head to head, Hemsworth and Portman suspended high in the air by wires, and more.
The 2-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo hits shelves on September 13, delivering over 80 minutes of fresh content.
