By all accounts, it looks like newly minted Gotham City commissioner Jim Gordon is going to have a rough go of it when "The Dark Knight Rises" roars into town. Thankfully, the actor who plays him — Gary Oldman — is having a blast.
Oldman spoke with Love Film about his work on Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie, describing it as a truly special way to end the director's epic run with Gotham's Caped Crusader.
“There was obviously a bit of pressure on Chris to make another one, but he can call the shots now, and I don’t think he’d have made a third for the sake of it," Oldman explained. "He really wanted to complete what’s, I guess, the trilogy. And he’s come up with something very special.”

Given the smashing success of "Kick-Ass," it seemed a no-brainer that the powers that be and all parties involved would be game for a sequel. Problem is that a) we're still waiting on "Kick-Ass 2" the comic to finish up and b) all of the major players from director Matthew Vaughn to stars Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Chris Mintz-Plasse are all busy with tons of other projects. Hopefully the question is not if it will happen, but when.
Movies.com recently chatted up Moretz about what she knows about where things stand with Hit-Girl when we see her next.

If you're a fan of set photos, particularly the kind taken by casual fans who happen upon film productions, this year has been one of the best in recent memory for early glimpses of our favorite actors in costume, in action during filming of some of the most anticipated blockbusters.

So far we've seen pics from "The Avengers," "The Amazing Spider-Man," "The Dark Knight Rises" and now some more from "Man Of Steel."
Latino Review has a bunch of new pics that show General Zod (Michael Shannon) clad in a form-fitting black suit, which appears to be similar in texture to Superman's .

Following Frank Darabont's unceremonious departure from "The Walking Dead," outlook hasn't been overwhelmingly positive regarding the post-zombie apocalypse TV series. But here's a healthy helping of good news for you: Greg Nicotero, the legendary FX artist responsible for creating the titular flesh-craving, blood-hungry walking dead, is upping his role with the series in some seriously significant ways.
AMC has just announced that Nicotero has been named co-executive producer of "The Walking Dead," joining the ranks of fellow producers Robert Kirkman (creator of the comic books and one of the show's lead writers) and Gale Anne Hurd of "Aliens" and "Terminator" fame. Not only has Nicotero been upgraded to co-executive producer status, but Deadline reports that the FX mastermind will also be directing an episode of the show's second season. He's already directed a series of "Walking Dead" webisodes that have yet to be released.

FROM MTV MOVIES: For a while, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee was claiming his upcoming cameo in "The Amazing Spider-Man" would be his funniest big-screen turn yet in a series of appearances stretching back to his blink-and-you'll-miss-it role as a hot-dog vendor on the beach in 2000's "X-Men." But Spidey now has some serious competition, as Lee maintains his "Avengers" cameo gave him the opportunity to pop off "probably the funniest line that I've had to say yet."
The superhero he gets to deliver it to is Chris Evans' Captain America, a nerdy triumph that had the actor pumping his fist in mock victory over his fellow Avengers and saying, "It's great!"
Like Lee, Evans wouldn't reveal the details of the cameo — and, honestly, what would be the fun of knowing beforehand when and how the comic creator will appear? — but he did gush about working with Lee.

Scott Porter was reportedly one of the top candidates to wield the shield before Chris Evans won the title role of "Captain America: The First Avenger," but the "Friday Night Lights" veteran and noted comic book fan is getting a shot at another popular Marvel hero.
Porter is leading the voice cast for Marvel's new "X-Men" anime series, set to premiere the first of its 12 half-hour episodes on G4 on Friday, October 21. The actor will step into the role of Scott Summers, better known by his X-Men code name Cyclops, for the anime.

Much like Conan O'Brien, Agent Phil Coulson cannot stop. The ever stoic S.H.I.E.L.D. agent has already made his mark on the Marvel Universe in both "Iron Man" movies and most recently in "Thor," and now, in addition to starring in next summer's "The Avengers," he's got a franchise all of his own.
By now, you've already seen "The Consultant," the Marvel Studios short movie attached to the "Thor" Blu-ray and DVD, bridging the gap between this past summer's thunderstruck hit and the ending of "The Incredible Hulk." Now, Coulson returns in a new Marvel One-Shot titled "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer."
As one might glean from the short's long title, "A Funny Thing Happened" — which has tragically little to do with the similarly titled Broadway musical — takes place between the events of "Iron Man 2" when Coulson was alerted to the existence of the Asgardian warrior's weapon of choice, and the agent's first appearance in "Thor."

Fans of Zack Snyder's gritty, highly stylized slo-mo-tastic "300" have been long awaiting a sequel to the surprise 2006 hit. Thanks to recent reports from producer Bernie Goldmann, it seems that the next chapter, to be directed by Noam Murro, isn't too far off. Goldmann hinted that while the sequel will feature a whole new cast of characters, there might be room for small cameos by "300" stars Gerard Butler and Lena Headey.
When MTV News caught up with Butler during the press day for his upcoming action drama "Machine Gun Preacher," we asked him for his thoughts on the sequel and reprising the role of King Leonidas.
"You know more than I do. I'm like, 'Oh there's a director now?' I've heard that I'm in the script. I've heard things, I've seen things, I've flown off the moon," he joked throwing in a "Blade Runner" reference to throw us off track. "That was my way of avoiding [the question]," he added with a smile.

“The Walking Dead” creeps back onto television in just a few short weeks, but you don’t have to wait any longer to catch your first look at the new poster for the second season.
AMC released the poster yesterday, which shows southern law man turned post-zombie apocalypse survivor Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) running along a desolate dirt road with a very familiar house looming in the distance.

Look out, Boston Brand — you’re not the only DC Comics character representing the afterlife on television anymore!
Just weeks after the revelation that The CW is developing a “Deadman” television series from “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke comes word that there's also a "Spectre" TV show in the works. Deadline reports that Fox has purchased the series, with writer Brandon Camp adapting the DC Comics character for the network alongside executive producer Bill Gerber.
Deadline’s report mentions that the show will focus on “a former cop serving time in afterlife limbo who hunts down earthly criminals on behalf of the dead — and mortals soon to be dead, if ultimate justice is not served.”
Splash Page welcomes Ed Tadem to our cover artist family (our custom-designed theme up top). Currently working on the forthcoming "Avengers" animated series, Tadem's work can also be seen in the "Jackie Karma" issues of Image's "'76," and in "Pop Gun, Volume 1."
