The Avengers descend upon New York City in the just-released trailer, and by "descend upon," we mostly mean "blow up in a series of large explosions."
By the looks of the trailer, the Big Apple plays a key role in the greatest superhero hang-out of all time, so let's take a look at some of the locations from the preview to get an idea of just where to look for Thor, Iron Man and Captain America the next time you're in the city.
Financial District from the Hudson River
The trailer opens with an ominous voice-over from the god of mischief and "Avengers" baddie Loki and an establishing shot of New York City, specifically the Financial District. Loki (and potentially the Skrulls) leave the downtown area untouched, but the same can't be said for Midtown.
Grand Central Terminal
A lot of the trailer's action (lots and lots of explosions) centers on a big attack scene taking place outside Grand Central Terminal and the subway station on 42nd. We see a number of shots, including the military putting up a fight, citizens running away from flipping, flaming cars and Hawkeye sliding around like a badass.
Verrazano-Narrows Bridge
Afterward, Tony Stark goes on a flying tour of Downtown and the Upper Bay. First stop is the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. If you look behind Tony Stark as he soars over the water, you can check out the bridge linking Brooklyn and Staten Island.
Staten Island Ferry
Next, Iron Man says "hello" to some passing commuters as he puts up next to the Staten Island Ferry. His commute is probably much easier.
Battery Park
Finally, Stark flies over New York's Battery Park before heading back into Manhattan to probably kick my ass.
