"The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor," the new novel from comic book creator and show executive producer Robert Kirkman and co-author Jay Bonansinga, is grotesque. This is a good thing, mind you; when it comes to the realm of flesh-hungry creatures of the undead, guts and gore are par for the course.

Specifically, fans of "The Walking Dead" are well adjusted to seeing brutal violence unfold, whether that's stemming from the pencils of comics artist Charlie Adlard or Greg Nicotero's brilliant FX work. But now, the post-apocalyptic blood has spilled out in prose in the form of "Rise of the Governor" — and to hear Kirkman tell it, the novel's bloodshed is just as horrifying, if not more so, than anything you "Dead" fans have seen before.

ThorThor, being that he hails from Asgard, isn't exactly used to our primitive customs here on Earth. But judging by how easily he packed those Pop Tarts and pancakes away, I think the God of Thunder and the Thanksgiving holiday season are going to get along famously.

That's right... "Thor 2," the upcoming sequel to this summer's Marvel Studios hit, has shifted its release date to the tryptophan-laced holiday season. Hope you like lightning with your stuffing!

By now, you've probably seen the first trailer for "Marvel's The Avengers" with all of its explosions, in-fighting and Iron Man caddishness. For such a hotly anticipated movie with relatively little known about it, any scrap of information out there will be analyzed over and over again for any tiny secret that can be found.

We already dissected the New York City locations from the preview, so let's take a look at the trailer to find out what are the most important pieces of info you'll need come May 2012. Here are the five keys scenes from the trailer for "The Avengers."

If David Fincher's adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" wasn't enough to satisfy your hunger for goth, bisexual hackers, DC Entertainment has some good news for you. The comic book publisher announced on Tuesday that there are plans to adapt all three books of Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy into graphic novels.

tintinIt’s a big day for “The Adventures of Tintin” online. We’ve already seen some trailers, but now five movie clips and three behind-the-scenes featurettes are showing us both more of what to expect and the mechanics of bringing “Tintin” to life.

The first clip, posted at Digital Spy, shows Tintin dealing with the incapable Thomson and Thompson of Scotland Yard. While Tintin is trying to solve a mystery, the two detectives are more interested in sales advertised in the newspaper.

The other clips and featurettes are from DH. Besides Thomson and Thompson, we get to see more of the well-known characters Captain Haddock and Tintin’s little dog Snowy. Snowy gets his own adventure on top of a car, chasing after some people. Each clip is less than a minute long, and at least one makes a point of cutting off at a dramatic moment to leave the audience hanging.

Iron Man

If you were disappointed by "Iron Man 2," you're not alone: even Robert Downey Jr. has expressed his own dissatisfaction with the superhero sequel.

The Avengers descend upon New York City in the just-released trailer, and by "descend upon," we mostly mean "blow up in a series of large explosions."

By the looks of the trailer, the Big Apple plays a key role in the greatest superhero hang-out of all time, so let's take a look at some of the locations from the preview to get an idea of just where to look for Thor, Iron Man and Captain America the next time you're in the city.

"The Avengers" trailer debuted online today, and from what I've observed, the results seem mixed. On the one hand, many Marvel heads are thrilled with the first appearance of Earth's Mightiest Heroes going to war against an unknown threat led by the mischievous Loki. For some, well... disappointment seems to be the name of the game.

MTV News Deputy Managing Editor Eric Ditzian and I sat down earlier today and recorded our very own "Avengers" trailer commentary track. Watch it in the player above to see what we liked and what we didn't, and read on for some more of my thoughts on the trailer.

FROM MTV MOVIES: After months of delayed start dates and a change of directors, the best thing Wolverine fans have going for them is a star who is just as eager to get the man with the adamantium claws back on the screen.

Hugh Jackman stopped by MTV News and gave an update on "The Wolverine," its potential R rating, whether any familiar faces from the Marvel Universe would show up and a new hint about the setting. As of now, the darker follow-up to 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" has a director in James Mangold but no definite start date.

So what should fans expect from "The Wolverine" once filming begins in Japan? First of all, there will be more locations. "Not all of it takes place in Japan. That's my other little tip for you," Jackman told MTV News' Josh Horowitz. Japan, up until now, had been a focal point for the concept of the film, which centers on Logan's encounters with samurai. How Wolverine's native Canada plays into the equation is yet to be seen.
