Batman: Arkham City

Rumors were floating around late last week that Rocksteady Studios were adding yet another character to the "Batman: Arkham City" line-up. While it seems like nearly every week has brought the announcement of a new villain, today's confirmation from Warner Bros. actually announces that you'll have more options in regards to playable characters. Upping the Robin and former-Robin count, Nightwing is joining the cast.

Batman Year One

In "Breaking Bad," Bryan Cranston is not a nice guy. His cancer-stricken chemistry teacher turned methamphetamine cook Walter White is, as the title implies, a bad man. Thankfully, in real life, Cranston is anything but bad.

During a recent chat with MTV News following the fourth season finale of "Breaking Bad," Cranston was in good spirits talking about not just his work on that show, but something much closer to Splash Page territory: his upcoming turn as on-the-rise cop Jim Gordon in "Batman: Year One," the stellar DC Universe Original Animated Movie adaptation of the classic Frank Miller comic book series of the same name.

Read on for our full conversation with Cranston, including his thoughts on what makes Gordon tick, what differentiates "animated storytelling" from "cartoons," why he nearly passed on "Batman: Year One" and why he hopes to return to Gotham City again soon.

"The Walking Dead" returns to television this week, but you don't have to wait until Sunday for new adventures set in the post-zombie apocalypse.

Robert Kirkman and co-author Jay Bonansinga are the men behind "The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor," a brand new prose novel hitting stores tomorrow (October 11). As the title implies, the new book shines the spotlight on one of the franchise's most notorious villains — Philip Blake, better known as the vicious Governor of Woodbury, a man who makes even the rotting undead look civilized. But was Philip always such a ruthless, soulless shell of a man? What drove him to commit such atrocities?

"Rise of the Governor" pulls the curtain back on Philip's early days as a survivor of the zombie apocalypse, and before the book hits stores, you can get a first look — or listen, rather — right here on MTV Splash Page. Click on the player for an exclusive sneak peek at an excerpt from the audiobook version of the new "Walking Dead" novel, as read by actor Fred Berman. Warning: the excerpt is not for the faint of heart!

Breaking Bad

What do "The Walking Dead" and "Breaking Bad" have in common? Other than the fact that they both belong to the same network, and that "Dead" creator Robert Kirkman is a noted "Breaking Bad" enthusiast, there's an additional link between the two shows: and it has everything to do with last night's season finale's most thoroughly disgusting scene.

Major spoilers ahead if you haven't seen the "Breaking Bad" finale!

Aaron EckhartAaron Eckhart is going to become a monster once again in Stuart Beattie's "I, Frankenstein." He will be playing Frankenstein's creature, Adam, in the adaptation of Kevin Grevioux's graphic novel.

"I, Frankenstein" has been described as a modern take on Mary Shelly's classic tale. The story follows Adam after he has survived to the present day, and he finds himself caught in a centuries old war between two immortal clans.

When Grevioux was previously talking about the actor he wanted to play Adam, he retrospectively described Eckhart to the letter.

dreddUPDATE: Director Peter Travis and screenwriter Alex Garland have released a statement about the current "Dredd" developments. Their statement, via Superhero Hype:

"During all stages of the filmmaking, 'Dredd' has been a collaboration between a number of dedicated creative parties. From the outset we decided on an unorthodox collaboration to make the film. This situation has been misinterpreted. To set the record straight, Pete was not fired and remains a central part of the collaboration, and Alex is not seeking a co-director credit. We are all extremely proud of the film we have made, and respectfully suggest that it is judged on viewing when its released next year."

Our original report follows.

Even though Michael Fassbender may have moved on to more serious, Oscar contenders like "A Dangerous Method" and "Shame," he recently told MTV News that he would still like to see a sequel to his superhero hit, "X-Men: First Class." He just hopes it will be easier the second time around.

"We worked very hard. It was a very trying time," says Fassbender, who played a young Magneto in the prequel/reboot. The actor remembered scrambling with the rest of the crew to make the movie after only two weeks of preproduction and being thankful for James McAvoy, the Professor X to his Magneto. "Thank god, James is a good guy a very smart guy and he's a very practical guy."

Gotham City Imposters

Monolith Productions is probably best known for its "F.E.A.R." and "Condemned" games, but the studio is taking a crack at a comic-inspired title with the upcoming "Gotham City Impostors." I had a chance to play an early build at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this summer, and the game's weird mix of first-person shooter and everyday-joe-turned-superhero felt great. Today, Warner Bros. released a new video of "Impostors," and while it doesn't show off any new gameplay footage, a cool animated short is always welcomed.
