Punisher

Dolph Lundgren swung and he missed. Tom Jane, despite a solid performance, couldn't save a mediocre movie. Not even "Rome" brute Ray Stevenson could do the man justice. But can a fourth actor finally avenge the live-action Frank Castle?

Looks like we're about to find out, because Marvel is once again putting live-action "Punisher" plans into motion. Except this time, the flesh-and-blood spirit of vengeance is setting his sights on the small screen instead of the big one: Deadline reports that Fox has put a "Punisher" television series into development, with former "Criminal Minds" showrunner Ed Bernero executive producing.

Memoir

Imagine waking up one day with no idea who you are. You don't recognize the person sleeping next to you. You don't know the kids in the room next door. You've forgotten everything, and you're not the only one — everyone in your town has drawn a collective blank, and that's just the beginning of the freakiness.

That's the core premise of "Memoir," the Image Comics series from writer Ben McCool and artist Nikki Cook about the people living in Lowesville, a sleepy Midwest town where every resident lost their memory in one inexplicable evening… well, almost everyone.

If you're not already familiar with the imaginative series, now's a good time to start brushing up, because "Memoir" is just the latest comic book to receive a live-action adaptation.

One thing I never got about the "X-Men" franchise… how could anybody possibly hate on mutants when they are just so. Freaking. Awesome? Seriously, is there anything not to like about people who can shoot laser blasts from their eyes and pop indestructible claws from their knuckles? Other than the bad attitudes and hero complexes, that is.

Regardless of your stance on mutant policy, I feel pretty confident in saying that you're going to love this action-packed exclusive clip from "X-Men Anime," the latest Marvel Anime series about to debut on the G4 Network this Friday (October 21) at 11 PM ET.

Starring Scott Porter as the voice of X-Men field leader Scott Summers, the new "X-Men" half-hour animated series focuses on a broken Cyclops seeking redemption alongside his fellow teammates. In this exclusive, we'll see just how far Cyke is willing to go, and how hard he's willing to fight, to meet his goals. It certainly doesn't hurt that he has an adamantium-laced ally fighting alongside him...

Akira

There’s no going back now. This past July, when we heard that the live-action "Akira" project had just secured a director in Spain’s Jaume Collet-Serra ("Orphan"), we were ready to start picking favorites from a proposed list of famous faces to fill its roles.

But now that the adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo's 8-volume manga has officially received the green light, as Variety reports, studios can finally begin a serious hunt for the story’s main characters, Kaneda and Tetsuo... and according to Variety’s sources, "Tron Legacy" actor Garrett Hedlund is already speeding swiftly towards one of those lead roles.

Joker

When I think of the Joker, at least in the audible sense, I immediately think of Mark Hamill. As a kid, "Batman: The Animated Series" was always a must-watch show, regardless of how many times I may have already seen the same episode re-run, and it did more to form my love for the Dark Knight than anything else outside the comics. Even though Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger both turned in commanding performances – especially Ledger's darker turn – the cackling voice of Hamill will forever just be the Joker for me.

Unfortunately, it looks like "Batman: Arkham City" will be the last time the character is voiced by Mr. Skywalker.

The Avengers

The hugely anticipated "Avengers" trailer has had little more than a week to marinate in the minds of fans, but some have already been panged with the irresistible urge to make fun of the teaser, and make it their own.

With a self-made a capella soundtrack, rather excellent action editing and delightfully ditzy Thor moments, this "Sweded" trailer for Marvel Studios' tentpole team up is one of the best we’ve seen. Check it out after the jump!

Now that "Thor 2" has found its director in "Monster" helmer Patty Jenkins, it's time to find out what her plans are for the film! In a perfect world, we'd call up Jenkins and have a nice lengthy chat about her take on the second installment, how big a role Jane will have in the story, whether Loki will be the one and only baddie, etc. We don't have that quite yet, but the second best option is a sit-down with Tom Hiddleston wherein he reveals what his first meeting with Jenkins was like and what her vision is for "Thor 2."

"She's amazing," Hiddleston told MTV News recently. "I actually had dinner with her earlier this week and she's sensational, a really amazing woman and quite clearly an amazing director."

FROM MTV GEEK: Developer Beenox and publisher Activision offer up an enjoyable if not necessarily ambitious brawler smashing together Spider-Men both "amazing" and from the year 2099.

Note, this review is for the Xbox 360 version of the game.

Just a year after Shattered Dimensions, Spider-Man returns to consoles in Edge of Time, a linear "walk, swing, and punch" experience allowing players to take on the roles of both present-day and 2099 incarnations of the wall crawler. In a plot involving Anti-Venom, an evil CEO from the future, robots, and so, so much time travel, Beenox has tossed in an engaging, and simple to grasp brawler system which takes some occasionally clever advantage of Spider-Man's abilities.

Arkham City

If your parents were murdered in cold blood, and you subsequently ended up spending your life chasing makeup-wearing weirdos through the streets while wearing pointy ears on top of your head, there is a distinct possibility you could end up acting like a real jerk. I never really understood the happy-go-lucky Batman so closely associated with the '60s television show, as Frank Miller's Dark Knight always felt more genuine.

The just released "Batman: Arkham City" definitely leans heavier on the latter, as Batman acts like a total turd through the whole game. Don't believe me? Check out this well-produced video from the folks over at IGN (WARNING: there are a couple small spoilers within).

Stan LeeWithout big-screen superheroes, special effects masters would be forced to subsist on big budget natural disaster flicks for work, and we all know those have been out of style since "Acid Rain 3D"... which, uh, is not a real movie.

It’s no surprise then that the industry would feel a debt of gratitude to Stan Lee, without whom some of Marvel’s most beloved heroes — like Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man and the Avengers — wouldn't have seen the light of day.

THR reports that “the Man” will be honored with the Visual Effects Society's 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award. VES Chair Jeffrey A Okun released a statement explaining the choice.
