Batman

For all the love that Christopher Nolan's Batman movies get, the one piece that continually receives nitpicking from fans is the beyond-raspy voice Christian Bale uses to mask his own and protect Bruce Wayne's identity. The voice has its moments of working well for the character, but other times it skews into ridiculousness. ("I'M NOT WEARING HOCKEY PADS!!!" comes to mind.)

College Humor has done us all the favor of getting to the bottom of just where Batman got his voice from. It took a number of run-throughs, but once he got it, it stuck.

The Avengers

What's a great superhero film without an equally epic soundtrack? Hans Zimmer brought life to Nolan's Gotham in his first two Batman movies, and it's almost impossible to think of Richard Donner's "Superman" without thinking of John Williams' iconic score.

We now know who will write the music for May's gathering of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. After being long-rumored as the film's composer, Alan Silvestri has announced on his website that he will compose the score for Joss Whedon's "The Avengers."

"The Walking Dead" has never slouched in the zombie department, but in this week's episode, "Cherokee Rose," we were introduced to the most disgusting zombie yet: the bloated well walker.

Finding a flesh hungry monster at the bottom of a well would be terrifying enough as it is, but the results were all the more grotesque thanks to the stunning visual effects work of Greg Nicotero and his KNB EFX house. In a new video posted at AMC TV, viewers are invited behind the scenes to watch the making of the most thoroughly vile walker (or floater, more accurately) in "Walking Dead" history.

"Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" is going to have a lot of death, a lot of violence, and a lot of swearing. So how did directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor manage to keep the rating a friendly PG-13? Because, fortunately, their titular antihero uses fire to kill people.

"We figured out all the tricks. You can kill a lot of people by burning them up and turning them into ash. That's what you can do," Neveldine explained. Taylor added, "Fire is your friend for the MPAA."

In all actuality, the directing duo say the movie is more of a PG-16, but fans looking for harder action won't be disappointed in the upcoming "Ghost Rider" sequel.

Cavill

Life hasn't changed very much for Henry Cavill in the past few years. Except, of course, for the fact that he's now going to be immortalized as Superman in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Man of Steel."

In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Cavill discussed how he's not turned off by the attention he's getting for starring in Warner Bros' upcoming superhero flick. In fact, he's a bit charmed by it.

"I'm just working my socks off. Of course, I'm walking down the street now and then and someone will stop or you'll see the paparazzi or something ... there's a difference there, but it's all part and parcel and it's enormously flattering when people come up to me and want to take a photo," he said.

Tetsuo

"Akira" continues its violent rampage towards the big screen, with director Jaume Collet-Serra's adaptation of the widely loved anime and manga setting its sights on numerous actors. Garrett Hedlund is reportedly the man to play Kaneda, and now we're hearing word on who could star as his best pal, Tetsuo.

The Hollywood Reporter identifies Ezra Miller ("We Need to Talk About Kevin," "The Perks of Being a Wallflower") and Alden Ehrenreich ("Tetro," "Stoker") as the names popping up most frequently in connection to Tetsuo, the telekinetic teen who becomes the driving force of much of the action as "Akira" barrels forward.

V for VendettaEditor's Note: The following story was originally published on November 5, 2009, but in what's becoming an annual tradition, we're posting it again to mark the occasion of Guy Fawkes Day. And what better way to view Guy Fawkes than through the smirking lens of "V for Vendetta," one of our favorite comic book tales? Enjoy! -JW

Do you remember, remember, the fifth of November? Aside from being the day after the New York Yankees won the 2009 World Series, it's also widely known as Guy Fawkes Day—a day that has some significance not just for our revolutionary-minded readers, but also for comic book fans in general thanks to V For Vendetta."

Guy Fawkes, a 17th century revolutionary, attempted to blow up England's Parliament building on November 5, 1605, in what is now commonly referred to as as the Gunpowder Plot. After getting caught, tortured and subsequently executed by British authorities, Fawkes' efforts and likeness became immortalized through parables, rhymes and other such stories—including comic books.
