Man of Steel

Earlier this week, rumors began circulating that Warner Bros. are already looking for a writer to pen a script for the "Man of Steel" sequel. The news came as a bit of a surprise, as the first of Zack Snyder's Superman movies is still more than a year and a half away, but was not unprecedented.

The three names said to be on the shortlist are Travis Beacham, Lawrence Kasdan and Steve Kloves, the rumored frontrunner.

Each candidate seems like a realistic choice for the job, and an argument could be made for all three. So we've taken the time to break each man down to decide who should get the gig.

Avengers

For “The Avengers,” director Joss Whedon didn’t just tell the actors what they were going to do. He also asked them for their opinions on how the script went and what happened to their characters.

“I sat down with every one of them [the actors] to talk about my ideas and their desires before I wrote the script, and that's very useful,” Whedon said in an interview with Yahoo! Movies.

Doctor Who

News that David Yates, director of the final four "Harry Potters" movies, plans to make a big-screen "Doctor Who" movie that ignores the Time Lord's television continuity has been received with mixed reactions. Some fans welcome the opportunity to bring The Doctor to a wider, mainstream audience through the power of cinema. Others are insulted by the idea of ditching the ever-elastic continuity of the previous incarnations of "Who."

To explore those positions and more, we reached out to "Doctor Who" experts across the blogosphere to gauge their reactions to the Yates news.

The last we heard about a sequel to this past summer's well-received "X-Men: First Class," Simon Kinberg had been hired to pen the follow-up. Now, one of the stars of the film, Michael Fassbender, has shared his feelings on a potential sequel with MTV News.

When asked about whether he saw Magneto, nee Erik Lehnsherr, as a true bad guy after the first one's finale, he said he wasn't so sure. "I don't think he's a bad guy. I think he's all right, isn't he?" he said. "Human beings having been doing some bad sh-- to him."

Bane

We've already seen Batman and Bane on the set of "The Dark Knight Rises," though neither reveal was made official—those early looks came courtesy of spy photos from the film's apparently security-free Pittsburgh set. Beyond those first glimpses, we've caught the briefest of glances of both men in the sadly short "Dark Knight Rises" teaser and the film's first viral photo, centering on Bane.

When are we going to see something a bit more concrete, then? The answer is sooner than you think… but you'll have to make a choice, first.

Empire Magazine is on the cusp of launching a new issue featuring a "Dark Knight Rises" cover story, including an interview with Christopher Nolan about his final Batman movie, pics from the Gotham City streets, and more. In anticipation of the new issue, Empire is asking readers to make a choice: they can either vote to reveal Empire's Batman-centric cover, or their Bane-centric cover. You can cast your votes over here.

Arkham City

"GoldenEye 007." "NBA Jam." "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2." What do these seemingly unrelated videogames all have in common? Each one allows you the opportunity to pursue the age-old tradition of the Big Head Mode. Sure, you can play as the Bulls the normal, boring way, or you can stretch Scottie Pippen's head to disgusting proportions.

The gag was all the rage in the mid-nineties, but you just don't see the cranium enlarging easter egg show up in games all too often today. Apparently, Rocksteady still gets a kick out of the classics, because the mode was secretly placed into "Batman: Arkham City."

So what’s going on with “AKA Jessica Jones”? It was recently announced that the TV show would include Luke Cage as a character, but will the show get a chance to exist?

Melissa Rosenberg, who may be best known for writing the "Twilight" films, has been tapped to adapt the comic book into television form. "I wrote it kind of off season so it fell in between seasons," she explained to HitFix. "So, we are waiting to see what happens for the upcoming season now and our hope is that it will come to life at that time. It fell between the cracks of the seasons and, hopefully, this will be the one."

Would “Jessica Jones” take place in the larger Marvel Universe we’ve seen in recent film adaptations? Rosenberg said that it would, but that doesn’t mean she can use any character she feels like.

Rogue Trooper

Earlier last month, tucked into a Daily Record interview with Grant Morrison, news of a "Rogue Trooper" film adaptation snuck out. It was just a little snippet of information, but it was in black-and-white: Morrison was working on a screenplay featuring the blue commando. Of course, nothing more was said about the supposed project, and it's fair to say it sort of fell off the radar in the last few weeks.

A new interview with "Rogue Trooper" parent company, Rebellion, doesn't exactly confirm that the film is green-lit, but there's a good chance the adaptation is one of two properties being optioned.

Black Widow

Hollywood makes a lot of movies. But a lot more movies never get made. For a while there was going to be a Black Widow movie, and now writer David Hayter explained why this project never made it off the ground.

"Unfortunately, as I was coming up on the final draft, a number of female vigilante movies came out,” he said in an interview posted at Blastr. “We had 'Tomb Raider' and 'Kill Bill,' which were the ones that worked, but then we had 'BloodRayne' and 'Ultraviolet' and 'Aeon Flux.'"

Hollywood felt that there were too many similar movies coming out to want to back the project, according to Hayter, who was understandably upset after all of his hard work and dedication.
