Avengers

Earth's Mightiest Heroes are now the proud owners of Earth's newest movie poster!

A brand new banner featuring the core four members of "The Avengers" — Captain America, Bruce Banner, Iron Man and Thor, from left to right — has premiered over at Yahoo Movies. It doesn't show you much that you haven't seen before, but that shot of Mark Ruffalo quietly Hulking out is pretty awesome in my eyes.

Dark Knight Rises

One of the biggest stories that came out of the New York City shoots for "The Dark Knight Rises" was some speculation that the Caped Crusader would occupy Wall Street.

The news broke shortly before production headed to the Big Apple. According to a reporting from the Los Angeles Times, director Christopher Nolan could have been planning to incorporate the ongoing protests in Zuccotti Park. Reps from the films eventually shot the rumors down after speaking with Entertainment Weekly.

Now, one of the film's stars, Matthew Modine, who plays Nixon in the film, has discussed the speculation with Indiewire and explained why the shoot never took place.

Who Is Jake Ellis

Jason Bourne. James Bond. Both are admirable big-screen spies deserving of your respect, but Jon Moore has one thing on his side that neither of those heroes have: a man named Jake Ellis.

Moore is the hero of the appropriately titled "Who Is Jake Ellis?" from writer Nathan Edmondson and illustrator Tonci Zonjic. The Image Comics espionage thriller tells the tale of an on-the-run mercenary who finds himself aided by Jake Ellis, an enigmatic figure that only he can see. When trouble is around the corner, Jake can see it coming. If a bullet's flying towards Jon's head, Jake tells him to duck. Having an ally like Jake can be good in Jon's line of work, but there is that nagging question… who is this mysterious man, and why can no one else see him?

The "Jake Ellis" trade paperback, collecting the first five issues of the series, lands in stores today (November 16). To mark its arrival, we asked Edmondson to help us launch our inaugural edition of Splash Page Movie Mix, a new column where comic book creators join us to explore how the cinematic world collides with their paneled page.

After the jump, check out six movies that share common themes with Edmondson's work on "Jake Ellis."

For the moment, "Fables" fans are going to have to settle on getting their live-action fairy tale fix from the likes of "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Mirror Mirror" on the big-screen, or "Grimm" and "Once Upon a Time" on the small one. At the very least, the most recently rumored man to bring "Fables" to theaters — none other than "Harry Potter" director David Yates — is not involved with the project.

MTV News caught up with Yates last Saturday (November 12) at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where he was promoting the DVD release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2." After conversing with him earlier in the weekend about his decision not to go forward with adapting Stephen King's "The Stand" for Warner Bros., Yates took some time to crush rumors that he's involved with "Fables."

Marvel Vs Capcom

Yesterday, Marvel Comics and Capcom's ongoing feud – OK, I guess it's not really a feud, but they are "versus," apparently – continued with the latest iteration in the "Marvel vs. Capcom" series, "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3." The franchise is huge with fighting genre fans, but you might ask yourself if the game is really worth the admission price, considering that it's not a numbered sequel. Is this game really "ultimate" enough for your hard-earned bucks?

Akira

"Kaneeedddaaaaaaaa!!!! Help meeeeee!!!!!"

Those might be the words going through your head when you hear news related to "Akira," director Jaume Collet-Serra's adaptation of the classic anime and manga about a massive nuclear detonation in a future Tokyo and its ramifications fifteen years later. Some major changes from the source material have been made so far, such as Neo-Manhattan subbing in for Neo-Tokyo.

No matter how you feel about the changes, the movie is certainly heating up. Some serious A-list talent is lining up for "Akira," including "Twilight" actress Kristen Stewart, who has reportedly received an offer for the female lead. With casting firming up, now's as good a time as any to take a look at the folks who are supposedly assembling for this sci-fi romp.

Man of Steel

One of the ultimate signs of a studio's confidence in a project is to commission a screenplay for the sequel before the original hits theaters. This happened most recently with "Real Steel," which got the order for a sequel script, before it pleasantly surprised audiences and critics last month.

According to a rumor originally appearing on the awesomely named ThinkMcFlyThink, the latest film to get the early sequel script order is none other than Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, "Man of Steel."

Sometimes, a dedicated filmgoer must make sacrifices. For example, to see “The Adventures of Tintin,” I journeyed from New York City all the way to the UK. Alright, confession time: I didn’t fly to the UK just to see “Tintin.” But since the movie won’t hit US theaters until December 21st, I took the opportunity my overseas vacation afforded me and got a head start on my American peers. It was ?11.20 (plus ?1 for 3D glasses) well spent.

Here are five reasons why you should see “The Adventures of Tintin” when it finally washes up on US shores next month.

Marvel's "Super Hero Squad" toy line has maintained a successful presence since its inception five years ago. The little action figures – basically weird, deformed dwarf versions of Marvel superheroes – have since spawned their own Cartoon Network show, an online game, and are now making their way back to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii.

"Marvel Super Hero Squad: Comic Combat" is not only novel for its incredibly long title, but the game also takes advantage of publisher THQ's new uDraw GameTablet.

Christopher Nolan's fantastic Batman trilogy began with the nefarious League of Shadows leader Ra's al Ghul's attempted takeover of Gotham City — and if the "Dark Knight Rises" trailer is any indication, the series will go out on a similar note. But if you're looking for Liam Neeson to shed some light on the "Dark Knight," you're out of luck.

MTV News spoke with Neeson during the recent New York City press day for "The Grey," the actor's survival thriller about a group of oil drillers forced to survive the Alaskan wilderness as a fierce pack of wolves stalks their every move. As we attempted to pick Neeson's brain about "Dark Knight Rises," it became clear that the actor's knowledge of Nolan's final Batman movie was somewhat lacking.

"You're throwing me for a loop," he told MTV's Kevin P. Sullivan when asked about the upcoming comic book movie. "That's right. I was in 'Batman.' I trained him," he added in his best Ra's voice.
