Quebec-based game developer Beenox are having a sort of hit-and-miss go at licensed "Spider-Man" titles. 2010's "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions" was an enjoyable game, thanks to an engaging story and mechanics that felt fresh. This year's outing, "Spider-Man: Edge of Time," wasn't received so graciously by critics. So while details on the upcoming comic-turned-movie-turned-game "The Amazing Spider-Man" are slim, today we get our first glimpse at some concept art.

Henry Cavill

During his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno earlier this week, "Immortals" and "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill teased that his entry into professional acting began when he encountered Russell Crowe as an extra on the set of "Proof of Life." It was a brief meeting that inspired Cavill to continue with his craft, eventually leading the man down the road that would take him to Smallville.

Stan Lee

Stan Lee is not only awesome at making cameo appearances in Marvel Comics movies (though he is tremendously great at that), he's also the man responsible for many of these movies existing in the first place. It seems more than appropriate, then, that Stan the man is about to be honored for his achievements by the Producers Guild of America.

The PGA has announced that Lee is this year's recipient of the Producer's Guild 2012 Vanguard Award, an honor that's been bestowed upon the likes of "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, Pixar genius John Lasseter and others in the past.

The Avengers

Did you notice how authentic the soldiers in the teaser trailer for "The Avengers" were? Well, you should have, because they just might have been the real deal.

Joss Whedon recruited 25 members of the Ohio-based 391st Military Police Battalion for the big action sequence that factored heavily into last month's teaser trailer. The troops were brought in to add authenticity to the otherwise outlandish superhero film. "The combat scenes had great realism," said Lt. Col. John Clearwater, deputy director for OCPA-LA. "It's a tribute to the U.S. Army Reserves and the veteran 391st MP Battalion. They rocked the streets of Cleveland with their 50-caliber machine guns and Mark-19's. The film crew was blown away by their firepower and teamwork."

Jessica Jones

Some time has passed since we last heard news about "AKA Jessica Jones," the Marvel TV series based on Brian Michael Bendis' "Alias" comic books. In fact, last we heard, "Twilight" author Melissa Rosenberg had been hired to adapt the project… a hire that's apparently still in effect!

“It’s still sitting at ABC and we’re hoping to get on the schedule for next fall,” she revealed of the TV show's current status in an interview with I Am Rogue. “I love this character. That is an incredibly damaged, dark, complex female character that kicks ass. That’s my favorite thing about it.”

What's more, Rosenberg confirmed that Luke Cage — better known as the superhero Power Man, who just so happens to be Jones' lover in the comic books — is very much a part of her vision for "Jessica Jones."

Dark Knight Rises

"The Dark Knight Rises" prologue that's been much buzzed about over the past few weeks remains unconfirmed, though it's existence is looking likelier and likelier every single day.

Case in point: the folks over at CHUD have reportedly unearthed the most recent MPAA ratings bulletin, which includes a PG-13 rating for a little title going by the name of "The Dark Knight Rises: Prologue."

"Immortals" hits theaters this Friday (November 11), bringing the fall movie season a much needed booster shot filled with swords and sandals, blood and brawn, gods and men. It's a powerful, action-packed moviegoing experience that fans of fare like "300" absolutely can't ignore. In fact, some folks hold the belief that "Immortals" is actually more badass than Zack Snyder's adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel.

Max Evry at NextMovie writes that the upcoming film "puts 'Clash of the Titans' to shame and makes '300' look quaint by comparison." Big words to be sure, but not unfounded ones: check out NextMovie's list of seven reasons why "Immortals" is more badass than "300" right over here, and let us know if you agree in the comments and on Twitter!

Avengers

FROM MTV MOVIES: "Marvel's The Avengers" might very well be the most-important superhero movie of all time. Never before have so many high-profile heroes come together for one cinematic climax — a feat that could be either a smashing success or an epic failure. The jury's still out on whether or not Earth's Mightiest Heroes will live up to their nickname, but the combination of high-caliber actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as well as geek-friendly director Joss Whedon has at least this fan feeling very optimistic.

Another reason to feel good about the Marvel Studios blockbuster: the recruitment of Oscar-winning composer Alan Silvestri to write "The Avengers" score. A major motion picture is worth nothing without a memorable theme, and based on Silvestri's past work, we'd say the music man is more than up to the task.

In our inaugural edition of "Avengers" Disassembled, a new weekly column for all your continuing "Avengers" needs, we're looking back at how Silvestri's scores of yesteryear might inform his upcoming Marvel music.

Wonder Woman

With all the superhero films hitting the big screen, many feel it’s time to make a Wonder Woman movie. “Drive” director Nicolas Winding Refn has made it clear he’s interested in making a movie about Diana Prince, and current "Wonder Woman" creative team Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang recently weighed in on the character's film prospects as well.

Of course, how can we forget that “Avengers” director Joss Whedon once took a shot at a big-screen "Wonder Woman" movie? Even though he's spending his time with Earth's Mightiest Heroes at the moment, he hasn't forgotten his vision for "Wonder Woman."

300

Even if he does officially join the project, Joel Edgerton might not be the lead of "300: Battle of Artemisia" after all, based on a new report that the titular goddess Artemisia is the one at the forefront of the film.

Moviehole has heard that the casting process is about to begin for the role of Artemisia. According to their report, the "300" is now called "300: The Battle of Artemisium," but that doesn't change the fact that Artemisia is the character pulling the strings in the film.
