
Following in the steps of "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger," Disney announced that "The Avengers" will be released in both 3D and 2D. This should come as a surprise to no one, as director Joss Whedon has apparently been planning on the post-conversion into three dimensions since before he started filming the movie.
JoBlo caught up with the director after the announcement was made. He sought to calm any skeptics of 3D by saying that "'The Avengers' isn't obnoxiously 3D." Whedon went on to say that he thought of the conversion process "every second" while filming so the 3D will have a clear place in the movie.
"There's no, 'Oh look, we're going to spend 20 minutes going through this tunnel because it's in 3D!' And no one is pointing at the screen the entire time. But it's an action movie. Things tend to hurtle toward the screen anyway," he explained.
