As the Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson is an important but decidedly small part of “The Avengers.” Compared with Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk, and even Nick Fury, the Widow hasn’t received as much prior screentime or narrative attention. Making sure she doesn’t get lost on screen is important, but Johansson didn’t seem too worried when we talked to her.
“There are a lot of people to serve in that, for sure,” she told MTV News during the "We Bought a Zoo" junket. “The Widow has a great story. I think Joss did a great job of weaving together all these characters’ stories. It was no small feat for him.”
She hasn’t seen the final product -- understandable, since we’re still a while away from the movie’s summer release. Despite how much she’s figured into the movie’s promotional material, a lot could change. “You never know in a big film like this,” she said. “There could be six hours squashed down in 90 minutes or whatever it’s going to be, and you wonder what might be sacrificed.”
Looking toward the future, Robert Downey Jr. recently remarked that the script for “Iron Man 3” was the best he’d read in years. Asked if she plays a role in that, Johansson played coy. “I have no idea,” she said. “I don’t know if I can get that latex suit on after the finishing ‘Avengers.’ I might have to take a break from the latex suit for a minute, eat some real cheese, and then get back into it."
