Sin CityIf you follow the little news that trickles out from time to time on "Sin City 2," you've probably gotten used to hearing the same things. Robert Rodriguez says the script is halfway done, then Frank Miller says the script is halfway done. Robert Rodriguez says it's almost done, then Frank Miller says it's almost done and that he hates Occupy Wall Street. Things have become cyclical.

The one piece of news from that camp that offered any new or different information came down the line back in August. The Academy Award-winning screenwriter behind "The Departed," William Monahan, was going to take a crack at the screenplay.

Up until that point, the project had been very much the child of Rodriguez and Frank Miller. Adding Monahan to the mix was simultaneously unexpected and perhaps a sign of hope that progress was actually being made.

Indiewire spoke with Rodriguez while he was promoting the DVD for "Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World" and asked the director where the project stands and what Monahan had to do with the script.

Cowboys & Aliens

Modern mainstream movie posters have long lacked the artistic aim of their vintage predecessors, and Mondo, an art house collecting different artists takes on pop culture posters, plays a part in changing that. Jon Favreau became a fan after working with Mondo on campaigns for "Iron Man" and had to have the collective on hand for his summer action flick “Cowboys & Aliens”.

In late July, Mondo released the first of four limited edition “Cowboys & Aliens” posters, featuring artists chosen by Favreau. Next week, the last poster will be released in celebration of the “Cowboys & Aliens” Extended Edition on Blu-ray Combo Pack. You can see it right now after the jump.

Lizard

"The Amazing Spider-Man" villain The Lizard made an unconventional debut this week in the form of a PEZ dispenser. That's certainly a first for the comic book movie space, I'd say, though early looks at set photos and licensed products is more or less par for the course for these kinds of films — just ask "The Dark Knight Rises" team about Pittsburgh.

On that note, there's another "Spider-Man" Lizard leak this week, this time by way of some alleged concept art from the upcoming Sony Pictures reboot. You can check that out over here. Meanwhile, we tackled the subject of movie leaks in this week's edition of Marvel Mania, which you can read by clicking over this way.

After such a long time in development, it still seems like "Akira" is having a difficult time getting off the ground. Things looked up once Garrett Hedlund had signed on. Both Helena Bonham Carter and Gary Oldman were approached for the roles of Lady Miyako and the Colonel, respectively.

Oldman eventually passed on the role, which looks to be going to Ken Watanabe instead, and when Bonham Carter spoke with MTV News at the Britannia Awards, she said she wasn't sure whether the sci-fi film was in her future either.

Catwoman

Live action recreations of videogames can sometimes come off as a little hokey, but that's not to say YouTube isn't full of some real gems. Hell, the live action Skyrim ad that showed up a couple months ago just may be my favorite commercial of the year. But what if someone tried to bring the intense, flowing combat of "Batman: Arkham City" to the real world? Doing justice to the source material would require some real martial arts mastery, and luckily, Thousand Pounds Action Company pulls it off splendidly.

Having already brought "Street Fighter" combat to life, Thousand Pounds set their focus on a video that translated the moves of Catwoman, a la "Arkham City." This could have turned out rather lame, but the fight choreography is absolutely spot-on.

If you want to know something about Hawkeye and the part he'll play in "The Avengers," Jeremy Renner is not the man to ask. MTV News caught up with the actor while he was promoting "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," and he plead the fifth when it came to his Marvel Comics alter-ego and "The Avengers."

Hawkeye's an interesting character and a fan favorite from the comics. What does Renner have to add to what fans already know about the character? "A bow and arrow. He's good with it," Renner said. "I can't give you anything on that one."

"Doctor Who" fans were in for one heck of a shock last month when it was revealed that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" filmmaker David Yates would be bringing a new vision of "Who" to the big screen in the next three or so years. Few details were known at the time: no actors or writers were attached, plot details were completely under wraps, with only the vaguest sense that Yates' take on "Who" wouldn't hinge on the Doctor's previously established continuity.

MTV News staff writer Kara Warner caught up with Yates on the red carpet at the BAFTA Los Angeles 2011 Britannia Awards, and the director confirmed that the search is very much on for a writer to tackle the "Doctor Who" script.

"I can't really talk about that because its such a long way away," Yates told MTV News. "We're principally looking for a writer, and we'll start with that. Everything has to start with a great script, so that's more important than [casting]."
