Before Marc Webb swung into action, there were several other notable directors circling Sony's "Spider-Man" reboot — including David Fincher, at one point. But if the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" filmmaker had tangled himself up with the "Amazing" comic book flick, he would have come at it very differently than previous attempts at sticking Spidey to the big screen.
Speaking with io9, Fincher revealed that his vision of "Spider-Man" was "very different from what Sam [Raimi] did or what Sam wanted to do. I think the reason he directed that movie was because he wanted to do the Marvel comic superhero. I was never interested in the genesis story."
Of course, Fincher couldn't completely ignore Spider-Man's origin. So how did he plan to deal with that series of events? Three words: operatic music video. (Naturally!)

"300: Battle of Artemisia" -- or "300: The Battle of Artemisium" for some -- is finally close to finding its leading lady.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that "Casino Royale" starlet Eva Green has entered into negotiations to play the titular goddess. Last we heard, Artemisia is the central character of the "300" prequel and was the main role director Noam Murro was looking to cast. She is the character who will pull the strings of the story, including manipulating Xerxes (rumored to be played by Rodrigo Santoro) and Themosticles.

And here… we… go!
Imagining a "Dark Knight" movie without Heath Ledger's Joker still hanging about was close to impossible a year ago today, but with the just-released "Dark Knight Rises" trailer, any and all concerns that Christopher Nolan's final dance with the bat couldn't possibly top his previous efforts should be put to rest. Keep reading for all of the details.

There's something deeply and inherently unsettling about seeing Captain America speak German.
Aside from that, the brand new German trailer for "The Avengers" offers up a few quick looks at some new footage.
The biggest difference comes in the form of a scene between Bruce Banner and Black Widow. She arrives in Banner's hut somewhere in the third world in order to bring him out of hiding and recruit him for the team. The scene played in its entirety at New York Comic-Con, but hasn't seen the light of day outside of that panel.
Check out the German trailer after the jump!

Depending on how you feel about remakes on top of remakes, “The Amazing Spider-Man," while looking promising, might be wholly unnecessary. Those Sam Raimi “Spider-Man" films were pretty good, weren’t they? But in less than a year, they’ll be left to the annals of history, or perhaps Netflix. “Amazing" sequels will follow, and the only memory we’ll have of Tobey Maguire’s goofy grin will be in our cumbersome DVD collections.
Today, you can relive the good times by watching the first film’s screen test for the Green Goblin, in which an unnamed actor wears a very different mask, along with the traditional purple cap. His ears are long, his eyes are yellow, his teeth are quite real -- he resembles the Goblin of the comic books, or at least, some kind of Orc-ish derivative.

After months of anticipation, the prologue for "The Dark Knight Rises" finally premiered in front of "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol." We now know how the first six minutes of the final movie will play out and we have seen Bane in action.
So, what did you think? Did Tom Hardy as Bane live up to your expectations? Did you understand anything he said? How could it possibly compare to the classic prologue from "The Dark Knight"?
We interviewed fans after a sneak preview of the prologue on Tuesday (December 16), and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Though there was some agreement that Bane's voice was difficult to understand, almost everyone said they weren't worried for the final film.

There are a lot of "Tintin" stories to adapt, more than 20 full-length comics produced over 50 years. We're seeing a handful of them in this year's "The Adventures of Tintin" -- stories like "Secrets of the Unicorn," "Red Rackham's Treasure," and "The Crab with the Golden Claws" -- but the producers have their pick of the litter when it comes to considering a sequel.
As the first movie racks up acclaim on its way towards its Christmas release, The Playlist reports that the producers are considering switching up their plan for a trilogy.

The MTV Movies team has been counting down our ten favorite movies of 2011 all week long, and given the amount of comic book movies that were released this year, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that one of those flicks landed on our list.
"X-Men: First Class" is the lucky pick, clocking in at #6 on our list of the year's greatest movies. No disrespect towards the undeniably awesome "Thor" and "Captain America," but "First Class" was the Marvel movie to beat thanks to phenomenal performances from Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, a memorable villain in the form of Kevin Bacon's Sebastian Shaw, an excellent plot, awesome action, and an inventive way of staying true to the previous "X-Men" movies while still creating something that stands totally on its own.

As the Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson is an important but decidedly small part of “The Avengers.” Compared with Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk, and even Nick Fury, the Widow hasn’t received as much prior screentime or narrative attention. Making sure she doesn’t get lost on screen is important, but Johansson didn’t seem too worried when we talked to her.
“There are a lot of people to serve in that, for sure,” she told MTV News during the "We Bought a Zoo" junket. “The Widow has a great story. I think Joss did a great job of weaving together all these characters’ stories. It was no small feat for him.”

We've seen what the new Rider looks like. We've seen him piss fire, and we have a general idea of what Neveldine and Taylor are going for here.
What we didn't have a great idea about until now is the story for "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," the follow-up to Nic Cage's first foray into the superhero world. In the sequel, Johnny Blaze must come out of self-imposed hiding in order to save a child and his mother who have found themselves pursued by the devil. Ciarán Hinds plays the devil, and he's looking for a new form to take so he can take over the world.
Who else are you going to call in that kind of situation?
