Ghost Rider

Imagine you’re Nic Cage. You act in 17 movies a year, ranging from Oscar contenders to whatever “Drive Angry” was. [Editor's Note: "Drive Angry" was a masterpiece. -JW] Every movie you do gets a layer of ironic scrutiny from a peanut gallery of would-be pundits and satirists -- because you’re in movies like “Drive Angry,” don’t forget. [Editor's Note: Don't forget that it's awesome, is what I think he means. -JW]

You’re sick of all the doubting. The poster for “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” has to be cool -- like, really, really cool. Do you play it safe? A trace of a skull against a black background? A motorcycle covered in flame underneath a spotlight? What do you do?

Today, a new poster for “Spirit of Vengeance” shows the complete visual reimagination of Ghost Rider, looking sleek and gritty as he rips over some really hot asphalt. Check it out in full after the jump!

Bane

"Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan made an interesting choice in selecting Bane, a relatively lesser-known Batman villain, as the main antagonist for his final trip to Gotham City. But what may have come as a surprise to onlookers was a no-brainer to Nolan and his team.

"With Bane, the physicality is the thing," Nolan said in a new interview with The Los Angeles Times. "With a good villain you need an archetype, you know, you need the extreme of some type of villainy. The Joker is obviously a particular archetype of diabolical, chaotic anarchy and has a devilish sense of humor. Bane, to me, is something we haven’t dealt with in the films. We wanted to do something very different in this film."

Spider-Man

Last week, we showed you the teaser trailer for Activision and Beenox's upcoming "Amazing Spider-Man" game. There's robots, Oscorp, and of course a web-slinging Spidey, so be sure to check the trailer out below.

Bane

Reactions to Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Rises" prologue, which introduces the back-breaking Bane through a pulse-pounding action sequence, have been overwhelmingly positive, except for one not-so-little detail: Bane's voice.

A large portion of folks who've already seen the prologue agree that Bane's dialogue can be difficult to understand, almost impossible at points, due to the combination of actor Tom Hardy's accent and the character's mask. Nolan himself admitted to Heat Vision that there will be points where viewers might not understand Bane's words due to the accent-mask combo, though he insisted that additional dialogue recording will assist the finished product.

Saturday night, industry luminaries gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate the best that videogames had to offer for 2011. Whether you love or loathe the somewhat campy Spike Video Game Awards, the show does provide a chance to honor some of the year's best titles, as well as revealing new games via world premiere trailers.

"Batman: Arkham City" held its own within the crowd of nominees, taking home four awards across multiple categories.

Patty Jenkins’ exit from “Thor 2" was surprising, but Marvel Studios is moving fast ahead on finding a replacement.

Boardwalk Empire

by Ethan Kaye

Comic books weave threads through all popular media. What once lived in attics and dingy strip mall stores are now headlining box offices, Broadway stages, and magazine covers. So how far do these tentacles stretch? This column looks at what’s popular, and uncovers some of the hidden connections to the comic world!

This week: HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.” Martin Scorsese's take on Prohibition-era Atlantic City gives viewers a ground-level view of America's greatest gangsters right as they're getting on their feet. With alcohol outlawed (and women just given the right to vote), politics and violence are the words of the day, and gangsters like Al Capone mix with bootleggers and presidents. And it has some pretty good comic connections!

Men in Black

"Men in Black 3" rolled out a headache-inducing poster late last month, not exactly the most encouraging sign based on some of the troubling reports already floating about the long awaited sci-fi sequel. But the new trailer that just dropped today suggests that the MIB agency is back and, quite possibly, better than ever.

Dark Knight Rises

If you thought last week was an awesome week for "Dark Knight Rises" news, you haven't seen anything yet.

The six-minute prologue is set to premiere in front of select "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" IMAX showings this coming Friday — even sooner for those of you lucky enough to win one of those Operation Early Bird screenings — and ahead of that debut, we've got a brand new "Dark Knight Rises" poster to obsess over… and believe me, it's definitely obsession-worthy.
