It would be nice if we could stop ourselves from devouring more "Dark Knight Rises" details, but no, that doesn’t seem very possible as the film’s release date draws closer. Interviews like Total Film’s talk with producer Emma Thomas don’t help the matter very much. Talking about details like Tom Hardy’s rapport with Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway’s role, Mrs. Christopher Nolan, as she’s otherwise known, was half-forthright, half-coy.
"Tom made a massive physical transformation for the role... It really is an intense performance," Thomas said. "He finally feels like a match for Batman – both physically and mentally."
Good to know! Considering the promotional shots we’ve seen of Hardy, it does seem like he’ll be meeting Batman on a level more physically intense than the Dark Knight’s previous confrontations, as Bane is the first featured villain who’s really able to hold his own in an all-out brawl.
"Christian Bale and Tom Hardy are both such fiercely committed actors that pitching them as adversaries works incredibly well – they have such a great chemistry on camera," she added, which isn’t hard to imagine considering Hardy’s previous testimony.
Thomas was a little more vague when discussing Anne Hathaway’s version of Catwoman. "It’s completely new and it’s a really interesting role," she said. "You never quite know where you are with her." Not too revealing, no, but we’re less than six months away from being able to find out ourselves when "The Dark Knight Rises" finally hits theaters. How exciting!
