The whole point of "The Avengers" is that there are six of them. Few things are cooler than seeing Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye all on screen together, but there are certainly moments when they shine in pairs.
In the heat of battle, the group can get separated, but some of finest moments in "The Avengers" came when group broke off to form temporary dynamic duos.

» Captain America & Thor
Maybe it had to do with the wings on their helmets, but when Cap and Thor briefly teamed up during the final battle against the Chitauri, it was clearly a match made in Marvel heaven. You know the shot. Hope seems lost, but the two fight on in badass slo-mo. Just epic.
» Iron Man & Hulk
The bromance between Tony Stark and Bruce Banner made for some of the movie's best jokes and added serious likability points to the Hulk. Was adding a partner in crime the secret to cracking the on-screen Hulk problem? Well, it certainly helped.
» Black Widow & Hawkeye
The two master assassins of the group have a history together and make one badass argument for a standalone S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.
» Nick Fury & Agent Maria Hill
They may not have seen too much action outside of the Helicarrier, but this dynamic duo held down the fort and did so in style.
