At last, "Kick-Ass 2" is finally gearing up to start filming with its main cast members planning to return. So with production set to start in the fall, we couldn't resist asking Aaron Johnson for an update on the project when we caught up with him at the "Savages" press junket.
"I think we might be set to go in full," he said. "I think all the cast are on board now. It should be exciting. I don't really want to say too much about it, though."
Understandably so, since the future of "Kick-Ass 2" has seemed uncertain ever since "Kick-Ass" hit theaters. But with a new director, Jeff Wadlow, on board and very excited about the project, it seems like fans might finally be getting the flick they've been wanting for years.
Johnson said he's met with Wadlow, and he's impressed by the director's fervor for "Kick-Ass 2."
"Really great guy and yeah, I think he's got a lot of passion behind this one and he wrote the script and it's in a really great place," Johnson said.
Well, there you have it. We don't know much about the sequel's plot other than it will follow the story trajectory in Mark Millar's comic books "Hit Girl" and "Kick-Ass 2." Fingers crossed, the film should start shooting this summer for a 2013 release.
