So just how terrifying is "The Dark Knight Rises," anyway? Terrifying enough that it's scared one of Treadstone's finest assassins right out of its hiding spot and deeper into the summer.
Deadline reports that Jeremy Renner's "The Bourne Legacy," the actor's takeover of the franchise following Matt Damon's departure, has shifted its release date back one week to August 10 "to get out of the way of both Sony's 'Total Recall' and Warner Bros/Legendary's 'The Dark Knight Rises.'" It's cute that they mention "Recall," because we all know who the real threat on hand is here.
None of which is to say that the new "Bourne" movie is going to be a bomb — on the contrary, the Deadline report states: "Word is screenings have gone very well for the reworked fourth film in the hugely successful espionage franchise." But this is the first "Bourne" movie sans Damon, so putting that up so close to a guaranteed hit like "Dark Knight" must be a daunting prospect indeed. Then again, Renner was one of the leads in the year's biggest film and the number three highest grossing movie of all time: "The Avengers," in case you're not paying attention. That factoid should boost Universal's confidence a smidgen.
Still, it's amusing to see Batman shake up his opponents just as easily off-screen as as he does in the movies, isn't it?
