"The Walking Dead" has gifted fans with several memorable characters from the Dixon brothers to the late, not-so-great Shane Walsh. But there's perhaps no single one-off appearance that gripped us more than Morgan Jones, the first human survivor Rick Grimes encounters in the zombie apocalypse.
Actor Lennie James played Morgan in the pilot episode and hasn't been seen or heard from since. It's a shame, considering his performance was one of the major highlights of the show's premiere episode; certainly, it was the most powerful acting job of anyone in that particular episode. As fans of the comics well know, Morgan's story doesn't end when Rick leaves him at the police station. The question is, will fans of the show be similarly rewarded?
According to James himself, the possibility is very much open.
"It remains a possibility I could return," the actor told Digital Spy during a recent interview promoting "Line of Duty," his new BBC police thriller. "The character I played is away for a long time, so it's kind of up to them whether I stay away or if I come back."
"There have been a few back and forth conversations and they check up on me every now and then," he added. "There's a possibility I might go back. It just depends on timing-wise if I'm free. At least one of the times they contacted me about it, I was busy doing something else, which I think was actually 'Line of Duty.'"
So, there you have it: James is very much up for another round as Morgan Jones. Whether or not timing allows him to return to the flesh-hungry world of the apocalypse, however, is another story entirely.
