"Iron Man 3" production is continuing to chug away around the United States, but random sightings of actors and costumes on set have led to more questions than answers. Five new rumors about the project have sprouted up overnight and (if they're true) could prove that this is going to be the most badass "Iron Man" film yet.
Possible spoilers past the break.
The Playlist podcast teased that Edgar Wright could potentially be shooting a post-credits scene for "Iron Man 3" that includes the introduction of Ant-Man. Maybe that's what the "Scott Pilgrim" director meant when he said that "things are happening" for "Ant-Man" this year?
Up next is the rumor that Maria Hill might be the spiritual replacement for Agent Phil Coulson in future Marvel movies. Even though "Iron Man 3" is a standalone flick, S.H.I.E.L.D. is apparently still going to have a presence in it. We loved Cobie Smulders's character in "The Avengers," so we're all for seeing more of her in future Marvel projects. Who knows, maybe we'll get more tie-in short films between each movie as well.
Then there's William Sadler's unknown role in "Iron Man 3." It turns out that he's likely playing a general who spends time with Don Cheadle's Colonel James Rhodes. There was another rumor floating around that Sadler could play Dr. Sal Kennedy, but we think the general one is more likely.
The Playlist's podcast also opened up some insight into the character that Andy Lau recently vacated. According to them, it's a "very different version of Radioactive Man in the comics." Instead of being a major player in "Iron Man 3," word on the street is he'll only appear in the post-credits scene and face off against Ant-Man later on.
Lastly, Latino Review has recently scoped out some pictures that tease a pretty big set piece being destroyed in the upcoming flick. According to their sources, the "Iron Man 3" villains manage to send Tony Stark's Malibu mansion directly into the ocean, bringing the fight literally to his doorstep. Thank goodness he has Stark Tower to fall back on.
Again, we'd like to reinforce that these are all purely rumors at this point in time, but we'd be stoked if even one of them comes true. "Iron Man 3" hits theaters on May 3, 2013.
Thanks to CBM for the head's up.
