"The Amazing Spider-Man" swings into action on July 3, bringing the summer movie season its second major superhero release in just a few short days. Andrew Garfield stars as the titular webslinger, taking the reins from Tobey Maguire and doing his best to keep the streets of New York safe from the monstrous Lizard running amok.
Three new clips from the Marc Webb directed reboot have hit the web in the past 24 hours. More details past the jump!
In the first clip, a fully costumed Peter Parker descends into the sewers, presumably in search of the reptilian Curt Connors. He sets up shop in the middle of an opening in the sewer system, spinning webs down four passageways and resting himself in the middle. One part hammock and one part security system, any movement on one of these webs will alert Peter to an incoming threat — which is one reason why the arrival of a teensy, tiny lizard seems to have our hero all aflutter.
The second clip, "Bridge," is considerably more action-packed. Peter, in plainclothes, swings onto the scene of the Lizard terrorizing innocent civilians on a bridge. He gets his red and blues on and swings into battle, but not before the scaly menace is able to knock Dr Ratha (played by Irrfan Khan) around a bit.
"My Kid is Trapped," the third clip, presumably follows "Bridge." We've seen parts of this scene before, too, during the extended "Spider-Man" preview that aired a few weeks back. Parker does his best to help a young boy, Jack, who is trapped in a car hanging from the side of the bridge following the Lizard's onslaught. Peter gives the kid his mask to bolster his courage, but the situation turns desperate when fire becomes involved.
