"Dark Knight Rises" fever is at an all-time high, with profile pieces and new interviews popping up all over the place lately. The latest such feature — an excellent look at the work of Christopher Nolan by Hero Complex's Geoff Boucher — not only examines the legacy of Nolan's Batman reign, but also provides a whole host of lovely new photos as well.
Several of these photos are behind-the-scenes looks at the filmmaker himself on set. A bit mundane at first glance, perhaps, but it's the sets you see in the background that warrant additional looks. In the photo you see above you, for instance, it looks as though Nolan is back in the Bat Cave, giving us a quick glimpse at how Bruce Wayne's underground headquarters has evolved in the eight years since the events of "The Dark Knight."

There's also this shot right above of us of Nolan with series lead Christian Bale on a set that looks a lot like Wayne Enterprises' R&D Division. A massive device can be seen to the right, looking dangerously similar to the much touted earthquake machine that Bane's supposedly bringing to bear on Gotham City.

And then there's Bale as Batman himself, standing tall with Gotham City Police Department cruisers roaring behind him. The Caped Crusader is back on the streets, leaving retirement behind for one last face-smashing patrol against criminal scum. If these photos on their own aren't enough to get you psyched through the ears for "Rises," just click on over to the full Los Angeles Times article. It's a great read.
"The Dark Knight Rises" hits theaters on July 20, 2012.
