"The Wolverine" starts shooting soon, and you can tell that the powers that be at Fox are very, very serious this time. That's because they've just cast a whole slew of new actors for the Hugh Jackman-starring non-sequel, including the film's two lead villains.
Heat Vision has the news that Will Yun Lee and Brian Tee are joining "The Wolverine" as Harada and Noburo Mori, respectively. Harada, you may recall, is better known as the Silver Samurai, a badass mutant with the power to charge nearly anything, including his katana, which can slice through any known substance — with the crucial exclusion of adamantium, that is.
Mori, meanwhile, is a corrupt minister of justice who is about to marry Wolverine's love interest.
That's not all the casting news, either. Coming Soon reports that Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi and new discoveries Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima are all joining "The Wolverine" as well, playing Shingen, Yashida, Mariko and Yukio, respectively.
Of those names, Sanada is the one I'm most excited about. He's played pivotal roles in some of my favorite films and shows of all time — "Lost," "Sunshine," "The Last Samurai" and more. I would have loved to see him play the Silver Samurai, but any role that gives him more mainstream attention is great by me.
Either way, the flurry of casting news is very exciting. Stay tuned to Splash Page as more "Wolverine" news comes in.
