Can you smell what The Rock is cooking? It smells an awful lot like cigars and bloody carnage, if you're following the wrestler turned actor's Twitter feed.
Dwayne Johnson has long been rumored as a leading candidate to star in "Lobo," based on the DC Comics antihero. His "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" director Brad Peyton is signed on to bring The Main Man to life on the big-screen, with Johnson a natural fit to take on the title role.
Well, the rumors are no longer just rumors. Johnson himself recently took to Twitter and confirmed that, yes, he is indeed looking at starring in "Lobo."
"Rumors of me possibly playing LOBO are true," the actor tweeted over the weekend during a question and answer session with his many fans. "Joel Silver and Brad Peyton working on it now. That could be fun."
He's right, that could be a lot of fun. There's some concern that this "Lobo" movie would be a bit watered down, given Peyton's more PG-friendly resume. But even if it didn't seem like your cup of tea, I'd argue that "Journey 2" is a solid movie with excellent visual ideas and a fun leading man performance from Johnson. Peyton knows how to tap into Rock's strengths, and if there's anything that's going to boost his chances at turning out a successful "Lobo" movie, it's another reunion with his "Journey" man.
