It's fair to say that Mark Ruffalo's the Hulk was the MVP of "The Avengers." The character has had trouble living on the big screen in the past, but somehow came into his own under the careful direction of Joss Whedon. With all the focus on the big green smashing machine, many have wondered what Marvel will do with the character from here on out.
Guillermo del Toro has been developing a "Hulk" TV series with Marvel for a while, but has long said that it won't have any connection with the studio's movies. Considering the fact that the Hulk is now doing so well on the big screen, we couldn't resist asking del Toro at Comic-Con whether the project is still being planned. Read his response after the jump.
"I have had a couple of minutes with Marvel since 'Avengers,' and they have the screenplay," he said. "We're waiting for a particular writer to do a rewrite on the pilot. That's where we are right now. But we're still on."
With that being said, del Toro is clearly a big fan of Whedon's work on "The Avengers." It's always nice hearing others with more powerful voices than ours state their love for the "Buffy" and "Firefly" creator, so it was a pleasure to hear del Toro gush about Marvel's ensemble superhero film.
"I think 'Avengers' is beautiful because you give a movie like that -- that size, that scope -- to a guy that has the tone and the pulse of those things dead on, and that's beauty or curse, you know?" del Toro said.
