When we caught up with Don Cheadle at Comic-Con, we couldn't resist asking him about his character's new patriotic armor that we've seen teased in recent photos. He took some time to explain how his government-issued superhero suit causes some problems between him and his playboy billionaire philanthropist BFF, Tony Stark.
"We've got a private sector and a public sector, or rather a military version of Iron Man. And I think there is a desire from the powers that be to make sure that those things are distinguished and distinguishable so that we know where everybody stands," Cheadle said.
It seems fair to assume that Stark isn't going to be so happy about that, especially because of the way he and his superhero buds in "The Avengers" just saved the world from evil forces. Come on, US government, a little credit where credit is due!
Cheadle has already said that there will be suit envy between Rhodey and Stark, but apparently the problem runs deeper than that. In most situations, the government and private sector do not see eye to eye.
"I think that's kind of the tension that is created for Tony and for Rhodey, because like who's really got the stick, and who really gets to decide what happens in certain situations? And that's what will be a lot of fun to explore in this film too," Cheadle said.
"Iron Man 3" hits theaters on May 3, 2013.
