"Daredevil" fans, looks like you got your wish — the Man Without Fear is returning to Marvel.
After failing to get an extension on its October 10 deadline, Fox has reportedly let "Daredevil" go back to Disney-owned Marvel Studios. Matt Murdock's second big-screen outing needed to be in front of cameras by that early October date in order to stay at Fox, but the studio has reportedly given up on making the movie happen. Variety reports that "Daredevil" will officially be back in Marvel's hands later in the year.
But even though the "Daredevil" movie isn't happening for now, that doesn't mean would-be director Joe Carnahan isn't still enthused by the character. He released two sizzle reels for his pitch on "Daredevil" late Tuesday evening, one of which you can see after the break.
If fans like Carnahan's vision, perhaps it's not too late; with the character returning to Marvel and with the director still into the idea of the hero, there could always be a collaboration down the line.
One more interesting thing to note. In the Variety story, they list a bunch of characters that Disney does not own the rights to — a list that includes Elektra. So, Daredevil is back at Marvel, but Elektra isn't? Not that you can't have one without the other, but that's certainly a bummer.
