"Guardians of the Galaxy" is on its way, know it or not. (If you don't know it, you can do your homework with our "Guardians" cheat sheet, by the by!) Unquestionably one of the lesser-known properties in the Marvel Comics vault, these space-faring heroes are headed to the big-screen in 2014 — and even if we don't know who's directing or starring, we know what the movie is about. Partially, at least.
Both Production Weekly and It's On The Grid (via Comic Book Movie) have posted a logline for "Guardians of the Galaxy" that, if true, gives us our best sense of the film's plot to date. According to the logline, the film is about "a U.S. pilot who ends up in space in the middle of a universal conflict and goes on the run with futuristic ex-cons who have something everyone wants."
If that really is the logline, it sounds likely that the U.S. pilot in question is Peter Quill, the hero eventually known as Star-Lord, and that he'll be our point-of-view character in "Guardians." CBM speculates on another possible candidate for the pilot role: Vance Astrovik, also known as Vance Astro in the comics.
Another question worth pondering is, what is this "something" the Guardians are in possession of that everyone wants? Have they somehow wrested the Cosmic Cube out of Asgard's hands? Is that what brings Thanos and his forces into the picture? For now, all of this remains idle speculation — but what else are we supposed to do in the torturous wait until August 1, 2014?
