It's hard to argue that the death of Big Daddy was anything short of necessary to the flow of "Kick-Ass," but with that necessary death comes the loss of Nicolas Cage, who won't be able to deliver any further Cageisms in the upcoming sequel — unless it's in cameo form, of course, which we'd be pretty happy to see.
So, how do you top Nicolas Cage? It's a tall order, but there is one way: by recruiting Jim Carrey. And that's not just a personal pipe dream, either. Deadline reports that Carrey is being courted by Universal Pictures for a role in "Kick-Ass 2," Jeff Wadlow's sequel to the Matthew Vaughn original.
If cast, Carrey would play The Colonel, the leader of the superhero team Justice Forever. We already know that Donald Faison is on board as the team's Doctor Gravity, with Robert Emms as Insect Man. Even Aaron Johnson's Kick-Ass becomes a crucial member of the super-team.
Deadline is quick to point out that while the casting is "a great idea," it's "far from a sure thing." That said, Carrey has let his "Kick-Ass" fandom be known previously, so much so that he once sang a duet opposite Conan O'Brien in full-on Kick-Ass regalia. If negotiations pan out the way we all want them to, that musical number is just the tip of the iceberg for Carrey and "Kick-Ass."
