"Arrow" is keeping things close in the DC Comics family, adding yet another familiar face to its ever growing cast — the Huntress.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the vengeful Huntress is joining the cast of "Arrow," The CW's adaptation of the Green Arrow comic books. She'll be played by Jessica De Gouw.
Traditionally viewed as part of Batman's extended cast, Huntress will be trading in the Caped Crusader for a greener shade of hero. According to the report, "Arrow" writers are leaning on the modern interpretation of Huntress; in other words, she's not the alternate universe daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. Instead, she's Helena Bertinelli, daughter of a mafia boss who seeks revenge against the people who murdered her family. But even with vengeance on the mind, it seems that Huntress has room in her heart for Oliver as well.
"Helena is a potential love interest for Oliver Queen; a fellow vigilante, set on destroying her father’s organized crime empire," reads a character description. "But Helena’s blind pursuit of revenge will put her on a collision course with the Arrow."
Huntress, who will appear on "Arrow" around episode six, is just the latest DC Comics character cast on the show. Kelly Hu has been tapped as China White, Michael Rowe is playing Deadshot, and John Barrowman is on board as an unknown character — but odds are good that he'll be someone we're already familiar with. On top of those characters, there's a not-so-secret Deathstroke Easter egg planted in the "Arrow" pilot that hints at Slade Wilson's eventual arrival on the CW series.
