Even though we're still well over a month away from "Walking Dead" returning to AMC, there are still numerous avenues from which to get your zombie fix, including Telltale Games' phenomenal video game based on the Robert Kirkman comic book series.
In fact, the third episode of "Walking Dead" — titled "Long Road Ahead" — is hitting PlayStation Network today (August 28) and Xbox Live Arcade, PC and Mac on Wednesday (August 29), according to the team at IGN. The grim journey of Lee Everett and (hopefully) his young companion Clementine will last for at least five episodes, with this week's third installment marking the midway point.
If you're a "Dead" fan and a gamer, Telltale's multi-part adaptation is a must-play. In his review of the second episode, "Starved for Help," our Panels & Pixels columnist Matt Clark struggled to find a single fault in the game.
"Sure, it's not the most technically advanced videogame on the market (Telltale's engine is showing its age), but that's also not really the point," he wrote. "'Walking Dead' is all about the experience, the story, and living with the consequences of decisions for which there may not be a 'right' choice. If part of what we're seeking as gamers is to escape to another universe, to immerse ourselves in drama and action, there are few better examples."
To lump some more praise on the pile, the "Walking Dead" video game is shaping up to be my very favorite version of the "Walking Dead" mythos to date, comics included. It's that good.
