Marvel Studios made the no-brainer call to bring "The Avengers" back into theaters this Labor Day weekend, in the hopes of pushing their record-breaking flick to further box office heights. The plan succeeded, as "Avengers" has now officially crossed $1.5 billion worldwide, with an estimated $2.2 million added on during its Labor Day resurrection.
But Marvel wasn't the only company enjoying some much deserved success, as Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises," has finally crossed the $1 billion threshold. It's only the 11th film in history to make that achievement, sending Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy off on a financial high note. Well played, Batman!
