Mother Russia has been cast! We just don't know who's playing her yet.
Director Jeff Wadlow has been very active on Twitter recently, tweeting tons of images of props and costumes from the "Kick-Ass 2" set. The latest image he posted is his biggest reveal yet, since it shows that someone has been cast as Mother Russia.
"2 days till we start shooting... and Chris just met Mother Russia!" Wadlow tweeted along with an image of an imposing woman standing in front of Christopher Mintz-Plasse. We'll reserve judgment until we see a full shot of the woman, but she certainly looks strong enough to wield that sword.
Mother Russia is one of the last major characters to be cast in Wadlow's take on Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.'s hit graphic novel. The character acts as a bodyguard for Red Mist after he becomes his more evil alterego, The Motherf--ker. In a detail that's appropriate to this story, Red Mist found Mother Russia on Twitter when he went on a trip to the Middle East.
It's fitting that Mother Russia looks so intimidating, because we already know that she's going to be facing off against Hit-Girl in a pretty epic fight at the end of "Kick-Ass 2." Mark Millar teased the showdown on his website recently and said it will be one of the best moments in the movie.
"The Mother Russia fight is going to be one of the most brutal and epic battles in cinema," he wrote. "Think how good Mindy is and then multiply it to 300 pounds of female muscle just pounding her and using every weapon you can imagine in the midst of that big final battle."
Maybe that's why Wadlow teased Moretz that she'll have to fight Mother Russia for Hit-Girl's Ducati.
