FROM MTV GEEK: They say that death never sticks in comic books. Tell that to the characters at the core of "Avengers Arena," a new upcoming comic book series that takes 16 young adults from the Marvel Universe and places them on an island, where only one is allowed to walk away with their life. Think "Avengers" meets "Battle Royale" and "Hunger Games," and you'd be right on track.
"These kids were chosen carefully and with specific story beats in mind. We definitely plan on taking advantage of the broad personality spectrum we have in play," writer Dennis Hopeless said of the book's cast. "Even the characters who die off early make their mark on the story. I didn't throw anyone into the book as cannon fodder."
