Note to Daniel Radcliffe fans: lightning bolt scars are yesterday's fad. Starting now, if you want to model your cosplay habits after the erstwhile "Harry Potter" actor, we recommend applying devil horns to your forehead. That's what the "Potter" star is going after in his new thriller "Horns," based on the novel by "Locke & Key" writer Joe Hill.
But did Radcliffe accomplish his other mission — making sure his horned visage is as far away from Ron Perlman's Hellboy as possible? Look above at the two unexpected heroes side-by-side, and you be the judge.
Speaking with MTV News recently, Radcliffe specifically called out the Dark Horse comic book icon as a character he didn't want his "Horns" protagonist — a murder-accused alcoholic who can make anyone tell him the truth thanks to his mysteriously-developed horns — to look like.
"Hellboy is what we're trying to avoid," he said of the plans for his "Horns" look. "It's not that on-the-nose. It is interesting. There will be a lot of prosthetics involved towards the end, because some terrible things happen to my character."
The blood dripping from his horns and forehead is a start, but Radcliffe would need a whole lot more red to truly stand shoulder to shoulder with Hellboy. As for who rocks the horns better? Come on — you don't mess with Big Red.
