Dwayne Johnson is one of the mightiest warriors in all of Hollywood. It only makes sense, then, that he'll play one of the mightiest warriors in all of mythology.
He'll do exactly that in "Hercules," his upcoming action movie set to start production in early 2013. Deadline reports that the film, based on the Radical Studios-published graphic novel "Hercules: The Thracian Wars," will see Johnson and director Brett Ratner teaming up with Paramount and MGM.
"Hercules" has been in the offing for years now, with development on the project dating back at least to 2008, when Peter Berg was involved. Ratner and Johnson's names were bandied about for the adaptation earlier this year, but little had been heard since March. Today's news makes it clear that "Hercules" hasn't just fizzled out; it's officially on, with one of the most divisive directors and one of the biggest stars in town in tow. Consider us intrigued.
