At long last, fans of Superman have a better idea what Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" will look like when it hits theaters next summer. The second trailer matches up tonally with the short, but visually interesting teaser that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, while expanding the scope to preview more footage of Henry Cavill in his full costume and Michael Shannon as General Zod.
Once again, the trailer begins by focusing on a young Clark Kent, growing up in Smallville, Kansas, unsure of his place in the world. Expanding on the ideas from that initial teaser, we begin to more clearly see the connections to the existential crises of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Trilogy." If nothing else, the second preview for "Man of Steel" aligns it much more closely to Warner Bros. most successful superhero franchise.

The other highly noteworthy addition to the trailer is the presence of a goatee-sporting Michael Shannon as General Zod. He appears briefly toward the end of trailer, giving us our first look at his costume, which incidentally doesn't include a deep v-neck.
Fans of DC Comics are undoubtedly keeping a close eye on every development coming out of this production, since "Man of Steel" has recently been rumored as the natural launching point for an "Avengers"-like effort to make "The Justice League" in 2015.
The past few weeks have seen a number of rumors crop up about a potential meet-up involving Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Last month, HitFix reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may already be in place to play Batman, shortly before Latino Review claimed that Darkseid would be the villain at the center of Will Beall's script.
"Man of Steel" is expected to soar into theaters on June 14, 2013. The film also stars Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, and Kevin Costner.
