When next we see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he'll be fighting alongside Steve Rogers. But what about his small-screen future? It's known that Joss Whedon is directing the pilot for "S.H.I.E.L.D." this January, with Agent Phil Coulson back in action in some capacity. How can the show possibly exist without Jackson's participation as S.H.I.E.L.D. director?
"I don't know. I keep hearing about it, and I haven't talked to Joss about it," the actor told MTV News in an interview recently. "But in my mind, I would tend to think that he would, if nothing else, be like Charlie in 'Charlie's Angels.' At least be the voice!"
As far as "Captain America" goes, Jackson promised he's not just shooting a cameo. To hear him tell it, his "Winter Soldier" role is an important one.
"It's a full-on role, from the original script that I read. It's a full-on S.H.I.E.L.D. operation in 'Captain America," he said. "But I don't know — I'm meeting with the directors this week to see what happens."
