And there you have it — with one single tweet, the Wolverine is officially back in action.
Director Bryan Singer took to Twitter to confirm the news that Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as the adamantium-laced berserker for "X-Men: Days of Future Past," the sequel to "First Class" and Singer's first time back in the "X-Men" director's chair since "X2."
"I would officially like to welcome @RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past," he tweeted. "Very excited! More to come..."
Jackman kept mostly quiet on his possible involvement in "Days of Future Past" when MTV News spoke with him earlier in the month.
"Yes, I've been talking with Bryan about it," he admitted. "I still have not seen the script, so we're in discussions about [the size of the role]."
In stepping into "Days of Future Past," Jackman joins returning "X-Men" players Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, as well as "First Class" favorites Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult. The "more to come" tease from Singer suggests that more "X-Men" alumni could well be headed into the "Future." Expect to hear much more in the weeks to come.
