Joss Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." has found its Agent Skye in the form of "Nashville" star Chloe Bennet.
This completes the casting of the six central characters in "S.H.I.E.L.D.," The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The site says Skye is "a confident woman who is slightly obsessed with superhero culture and the shadow organizations that exist within it. She's edgy and can out-talk anyone with her unflappable nature."
That's similar to what the initial casting call for the show said about the character, calling Skye "fun, smart, caring and confident -- with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm." Sounds like a slew of other Whedon leading ladies who we have come to know and love over the years.
Bennet joins a packed cast, including Brett Dalton as Agent Grant, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Ming Na as Agent Melinda May, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Gemma Simmons and Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz. It remains to be seen if Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury or Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill will be involved, but Jackson told MTV News he expects to at least be heard on the ABC series.
"I keep hearing about it, and I haven't talked to Joss about it," he said. "In my mind, I would tend to think that he would, if nothing else, be like Charlie in 'Charlie's Angels.' At least be the voice!"
"S.H.I.E.L.D." is slated to go into production in January.
