Tony Stark would like to wish you a merry Christmas, and a happy New Year.
Marvel Studios has unveiled a new image from the upcoming "Iron Man 3," and in it Tony looks like he's in better shape than the last time we saw him. Staring up into a snowy sky, Stark looks beaten but not broken in Marvel's holiday card to us. "Happy holidays from Tony Stark," the image reads.
It's nice to see a slightly more lighthearted campaign than what we've seen for the movie recently. Though Tony Stark was all quips in "The Avengers," the new images and trailers we've seen for "Iron Man 3" make this movie seem a bit more somber. Of course, those closest to the film say it's the opposite, and claim that it's actually returning to the fun tone of the original "Iron Man."
"'IM3' is really a dark comedy with a little bit of farce. The trick is to be able to have the audience relate to you," actor James Badge Dale said recently.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in a different interview, "It's not a serious movie, but we seriously dig into exploring more of Tony. The trick is just trying to make great movies. We try to make them all great, all different and all fresh. What you'll see in 'Iron Man 3' is some very unique directions that were taken."
All that remains to be seen, but at least we can take one clue about "Iron Man 3" from this new image: Tony Stark has left California, because it definitely doesn't snow in sunny Malibu.
