With "S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" pilot wrapped, Joss Whedon can focus all of his attention on the upcoming "The Avengers 2." He admitted in a new interview that he's not as far along in the project as he -- and Marvel executives -- would like, but he's still really looking forward to the ensemble superhero sequel.
"I am not as far as I'd like to be, but I have the whole thing outlined," Whedon told Digital Spy. "I'm really excited about it, and it's just of course getting the time to write it all down."
When asked if Whedon was going to try to keep "The Avengers 2" as character-focused as "The Avengers" was, the director cautioned fans not to expect a completely introverted movie. Still, this is his chance to get the Marvel gang back together after four new standalone movies.
"There's going to be a certain amount of spectacle because, guess what, [people] are coming to see it and that's why I wanted to see movies too. But I do have a greater opportunity to sort of dig into the relationships in the second one, and that's what's really exciting about it for me," he said.
"The Avengers 2" is due out on May 1, 2015.
