"The Walking Dead" returns to the Prison in the upcoming episode "This Sorrowful Life" after focusing on the drama at Woodbury in "Prey," and new promos for the episode show that it will focus on Merle, Merle, Merle. Despite his many apologies to those he wronged in the Prison crew, the one-handed Dixon brother is still walking on thin ice.
In addition to the promo, which can be watched after the jump (and are obviously full of spoilers for those of you not caught up on the intense season), two new clips from "This Sorrowful Life" have also been released. Between the three looks into next week's "The Walking Dead" episode, it becomes clear that Merle isn't the only one who should be watching his back. Michonne could be in trouble as well as Rick seems pretty convinced that giving her up to the Governor will make all of his problems go away.
Interestingly enough, it's Merle who warns Rick what the Governor will likely do to Michonne if he gets his hands on her. "Prey" already revealed that the man formerly known as Philip Blake has terrible plans for Michonne, but whether or not Merle's words sway Rick remains to be seen. At least this move might endear Merle to Michonne a bit -- if she even knows what Rick plans.
As for the second clip, Daryl tries to figure out whether there's anything he can do to convince Glenn to forgive Merle. Glenn explains that he might have been able to look the other way if Merle hadn’t targeted Maggie, who Glenn loves more than himself. Cue an obligatory "aww" moment, though hopefully Glenn can get over that grudge and allow Merle to rejoin their group. Yes, we're voting for Merle now.
"The Walking Dead" airs Sundays on AMC at 9 p.m. ET.
