Apparently there's one team-up that's even more mighty than the Avengers themselves: that of Marvel and Shepperton Studios. The UK-based studio was home to the just-wrapped "Thor: The Dark World" and is gearing up to take "Guardians of the Galaxy" out of Earth's orbit. Screen Daily reports that the sequel to the biggest film not directed by James Cameron will make Pinewood-Shepperton its home starting in early 2014.
"Marvel's the Avengers" was shot entirely in the United States, making use of both Cleveland and Albuquerque during its shoot two years ago. It is unlikely that the fictional superteam will relocate to the UK in the film's story, unless "The Avengers 2" is keeping a Captain Britain-sized secret. Odds are the exteriors will either be shot Stateside or utilize the same incredibly-detailed special effects employed by ILM in the making of the first film.
While a shooting start date is around a year away, it seems like it's still too soon. The Marvel method of filling in our time in-between Avengers films with solo films is sure making the time fly; I've been so busy with "Iron Man 3" and the other Phase 2 films that I didn't expect to get legit "Avengers 2" news any time soon. But the time has come!
