A new poster for "R.I.P.D." has made its way online, and it offers a bit more exposition than the last one did. Touting the tagline, "Defending our world one soul at a time," the poster teases the supernatural forces at work in the upcoming movie.
Nothing screams, "Watch this movie!" like a R.I.P.D. car getting sucked up through a gaping hole in the sky, and this poster seems to try to underline the crazy ridiculous action sequences that will take place in the comic book adaptation. The trailer already showed off "R.I.P.D.'s" "Men in Black"-meets-"Bleach" vibe, and that's pretty much what this new image reveals as well.
It's nice that Universal Pictures is playing up the most exciting element of the "R.I.P.D." film: the partnership between Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds. Seeing those two work opposite one another is an exciting prospect and -- not to keep bringing up "Men in Black" comparisons -- reminiscent of teaming Will Smith with Tommy Lee Jones. The trailer made it seem like they have some fun chemistry, and the poster certainly plays off that.
Directed by Robert Schwentke, "R.I.P.D." also stars Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker and Marisa Miller. It's due in theaters on July 19.
