Like all comic book movies, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has to have its fair share of character mysteries. While the mystery of who Sarah Gadon is playing intensifies, the one surrounding Felicity Jones' character is clearing up. In an interview with The Belfast Telegraph, Jones narrowed the possibilities down by saying that her character won't exactly be helping Spider-Man all the time.
"It's TOP secret," says Jones. "I can tell you that she's sort of on the baddie's side, but I can't explain much more than that."
This answer is much more put together than the one she gave last week, where she accidentally/maybe half-confirmed what's been widely assumed - that she's playing Black Cat.
Black Cat is a character that would indeed be "sort of" on the baddie's side, as she's both a criminal and love interest for Spider-Man. Of course it's possible that she's just playing a corrupt employee of Ravencroft Institute, alongside whoever Colm Feore is playing.
Whoever she's playing, the interview reveals that her character is involved in some elaborate set pieces.
"Just the scale was incredible. It's a different challenge to be on an enormous set, surrounded by hundreds of extras, as opposed to just being 20 people in the room." If Black Cat's in the movie, odds are she's going to be in the thick of the action alongside Spider-Man. And when two superheroes team up, the scale does indeed get 'incredible.'
Listen, I just want Felicity Jones to be Black Cat. The Spider-Man films have been completely void of super-powered females, and that needs to change with "Amazing Spider-Man 2."
