If rumors prove to be true, then Aaron Taylor-Johnson could end up with more than one superhero on his resume. The "Kick-Ass 2" leading man has apparently been eyed to play Quicksilver in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and there appears to be at least some truth there.
MTV News' Josh Horowitz got a chance to ask Taylor-Johnson about the silver-haired speedster, and it turns out that the actor has put a lot of thought into the character.
"I think when it comes around and you're asking about 'Avengers 2' and Quicksilver and things like that, the thing is to think about that he's an abandoned child," explains Taylor-Johnson. "Him and his sister [the Scarlet Witch] are abandoned and they live in Eastern Europe. There's more character aspects that I'm interested in than the power aspect."
Clearly someone has been doing their research. That doesn't mean that the casting is a done deal, but Taylor-Johnson clearly seems on board for the idea. In the video below, he professes his love for the first "Avengers" and reveals that he has indeed conversed with a very enthusiastic Joss Whedon.
The writer/director included the duo in part due to their clashing personalities, but also because they were part of the team when Whedon was reading "Avengers" comics as a kid. Quicksilver then found himself in the spotlight when director Bryan Singer announced he would appear in Fox's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" played by Evan Peters. Now the character will pop up in two separate film universes from two separate studios depicting characters from the same source material.
Ah, comics. It can never be easy. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" opens in 2015.
