Like any Joss Whedon spectacle, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has been built to play with all of your emotions. Now, Comic Book Therapy has reported that not even the master of televised emotional manipulation himself is immune to his own devices.
"We're still sort of jockeying through the different stories, but I've already read at least one script, just in its outline form, actually made me tear up," revealed Whedon. "We're just finding out who these guys are and just trying to mine that vein of how much they matter in this world where it seems like nobody but the heroes do."
In addition to heartfelt or heart-wrenching plot points, Whedon revealed that the second episode will touch upon another primal emotion: fear.
"We have just started shooting again. Now it really starts because the pilot was a ton of fun, but the real pressure is can they keep it up? Can they find that heart? Can they get the big, epic stuff going? Episode 2 is a lot more frightening than episode 1."
Frightening, huh? Does episode have anything to do with the red-faced men we've seen in a few set photos, and more recently in a new series promo debuted over at Entertainment Weekly? Check out the EW video for more footage from episodes 2 and 3, episodes that we've already heard a little bit about.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." debuts on ABC on September 24th.
