Bring on the bad guys! You can add Dr. Anthony Ivo—creator of the power-copying Amazo robot—to the list of villains set to torment Oliver Queen in "Arrow's" second season. The show has cast Dylan Neal in the role, marking his return to the televised DC Universe following a two episode stint on "Smallville" in 2009 as corrupt District Attorney Ray Sacks.
Fans might also recognize Neal as Hermes from the film "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief," or as Doug Witter on "Dawson's Creek." The experienced actor will be bringing Dr. Ivo's menace to life in a four-episode arc, starting with episode five, "League of Assassins." Screen Crush, the site that broke the news, reported that Neal might even be back for more following his initial storyarc.
Ivo's involvement in the series looks to take place primarily in Oliver Queen's island flashbacks, as the scientist tries to capitalize on science that has remained lost for 70 years. Ivo first appeared way back in 1960, in "Brave and the Bold" #30, but he's been very active in DC's recent New 52-era. The doctor tormented the Justice League before faking his death and forming the new Secret Society of Super Villains.
"Arrow's" sophomore season is so far packed with appearances from DC Comics characters, including Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Summer Glau as Isabel Rochev, Michael Jai White as Bronze Tiger, Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Amanda Waller, and Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin, among others.
"Arrow" returns to the CW on October 9th.
